Shah Residence - Lincoln Park, Chicago

Five years ago I worked with my clients on the design of their condo. Now, with a growing family and the desire for more space in a family-friendly neighborhood, they found a new home in Lincoln Park, and asked me to work on the interior design with them once more.

We had a very tight time frame between closing and move-in to get the contractors work completed. This included tearing out the old tile in the foyer and kitchen, adding new lighting, and painting and decorating.

The design concept and focus of the project was to provide a contemporary, elegant and luxurious formal living and dining area for entertaining. A warm neutral palette that incorporates many materials and textures, including a custom-made wool and silk rug woven in Nepal, adds to the sophisticated ambience with a mix of vintage glamour and contemporary design.

The kitchen and family areas were designed to be functional and easy to maintain to accommodate family entertaining and children. The master bedroom incorporated a gold, ivory and lavender palette to add warmth and pattern with sheer drapes and metallic window coverings.
